Brazilian stroganoff (or “Estrogonofe” in Portuguese) is a popular variation of the traditional Russian dish, but it has its own unique twist. Unlike the Russian version, which typically uses beef and a sour cream-based sauce, the Brazilian version can be made with either beef or chicken and usually includes a tomato-based sauce mixed with heavy cream. It’s often served with rice and potato sticks or shoestring potatoes.
Brazilian stroganoff is a beloved comfort food and is often served at family gatherings, special occasions, and even in restaurants. It’s considered a staple in Brazilian cuisine.
One of the reasons for its popularity is its relatively simple and quick preparation. It doesn’t require complicated techniques or hard-to-find ingredients, making it accessible for home cooks.
Here’s a basic recipe for Brazilian Stroganoff made with either chicken or beef.
