Instructions
Cook the Filling:
Heat the oven to 350 F (175 C). Soak the bread in 1/2 cup milk, then squeeze and mash it.
Cook onions in oil until soft. Add beef and brown, then stir in garlic, curry, turmeric, bread, raisins, chutney, lemon, and salt.
Spread in the baking dish and cool for 10 minutes.
Bake:
Whisk the eggs with remaining milk and pour over the beef. Place bay leaves on top.
Bake 35 to 40 minutes until the custard is set and golden. Rest 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
Use mild curry for balance.
Cool the filling before topping.
Remove bay leaves before serving.
