Instructions
Stir:
Fill a mixing glass with ice. Add the rye whiskey, sweet vermouth, and bitters.
Stir smoothly for 20 to 30 seconds, until very cold and lightly diluted.
Strain and serve:
Strain into a chilled coupe or Nick and Nora glass.
Garnish with one brandied cherry and serve immediately.
Notes
A 2:1 whiskey-to-vermouth ratio is a classic starting point; adjust slightly for a drier or richer drink.
Avoid shaking a Manhattan, which can make the texture cloudy and overly aerated.
