Chapman is a signature Nigerian party drink: bright, fizzy, ruby-red, and layered with citrus, grenadine, bitters, and cooling cucumber.

It comes together in minutes, making it ideal for gatherings. Build it over ice and add the bitters last so the drink keeps its lively aroma.

Chill the sodas before mixing and taste before adding extra grenadine; different brands vary in sweetness and color.

Serving Suggestions

Serve Chapman in tall glasses with lots of ice, orange and lime slices, cucumber, and a cherry. It is especially good with grilled foods and party snacks.

Recipe Notes

Mix individual glasses just before serving so the carbonation stays bright. The garnishes can be sliced a few hours ahead and refrigerated.

  • 1 cup orange soda chilled
  • 1/2 cup grenadine
  • 1/4 cup fresh lime juice
  • 2 tbsp Angostura bitters or to taste

Instructions

Mix:

  • Fill a large pitcher with the ice, orange slices, lime slices, and cucumber.

Notes

  • For a sweeter drink, add another splash of grenadine; for a sharper drink, add more lime juice.
