Colombian Lulada (Lulo Fruit Drink)

Jump to recipe ↓
A chilled Colombian lulada with crushed lulo fruit, ice, and lime.

Lulada is a refreshing Colombian drink from the Valle del Cauca, made by gently crushing tart lulo fruit into sweetened ice water.

The lulo pulp stays textured rather than fully blended, giving the drink its distinctive bright flavor and suspended fruit.

Taste the fruit before sweetening because lulo acidity can vary; add the syrup gradually.

Serving Suggestions

Serve very cold over ice with lime wedges and a spoon for the fragrant fruit pulp.

Recipe Notes

If fresh lulo is unavailable, use frozen lulo pulp from a Latin market and adjust the sugar to taste.
